Options

The Options tab in the Download Settings dialog provides the following settings:

Log Errors

Check this box to log any errors that might occur during the download. This information is written to the SiteSucker log file, which is stored in the Download Folder.

Log Warnings

Check this box to log any warnings that might occur during the download. This information is written to the SiteSucker log file. For example, SiteSucker will log warnings for any pages that use JavaScript or for any files that could not be downloaded because they were disallowed by robots.txt or the Robots META tag.

Log Final Status

Check this box to write status information (Level, Files Downloaded, and Errors) to the SiteSucker log file when a download is complete.

Log Download History

Check this box to log the URL of every file downloaded. This information is written to the SiteSucker log file.

Drag Triggers Download

Check this box to have SiteSucker automatically start the download after you drag a URL into the Web URL text field.

Replace Files

Use this control to specify when SiteSucker should replace existing files. You can choose from the following options:

  • Never - SiteSucker never replaces your local files and only downloads those files that haven't already been downloaded.
  • Always - SiteSucker always deletes your local files and replaces them with files downloaded from the Internet.
  • With Newer - SiteSucker only replaces existing files if a newer copy is found on the Internet.

Note: The Replace Files setting does not affect HTML files, which are always downloaded.

HTML Processing

Use this control to specify how SiteSucker should process HTML files after they are downloaded. You can choose from the following options:

  • None - SiteSucker does not process HTML files.
  • Localize - SiteSucker will "localize" downloaded files so that you will get the best results when browsing a site offline. This feature modifies the downloaded HTML and CSS documents by replacing every link to a file on a Web server with the corresponding link to the local file. If there isn't a local file associated with a link, this setting will ensure that the link points to the file on the Web server.
  • Delete After Analysis - SiteSucker deletes HTML and CSS files after they are downloaded and analyzed.

Download Option

Use this control to limit downloaded files to those at a specific site, those within a specific directory, or those containing a specific path. This option works in conjunction with the Paths settings. SiteSucker provides the following download options:

  • Get All Linked Files - SiteSucker downloads the file specified in the Web URL text box and every file that it links to and every site that these files link to, etc. Be aware that this option could result in a HUGE download if allowed to continue forever.
  • Get All Files on Same Server - SiteSucker limits the download to those files on the host of the original file being downloaded.
  • Get All Files on Subdomains - SiteSucker limits the download to those files within the second-level domain and all subdomains of the original file being downloaded.
  • Get All Files in Same Directory - SiteSucker only downloads those files that are within the directory of the original file being downloaded.
  • Get Files per Paths Settings - SiteSucker downloads the file specified in the Web URL text box and any files referenced which have paths included in the Paths settings.
  • Get Files via Image Links - SiteSucker downloads the file specified in the Web URL text box and every file that it links to via an image link. In other words, SiteSucker only follows those links that you would navigate in a Web browser by clicking on an image.

Download Folder

Use this control to select the local Download Folder where files will be saved. By default, the Download Folder is the desktop.

To change the Download Folder, do the following:

  1. Select the Set Download Folder... menu item. This displays a dialog box.
  2. Select a folder in the dialog box.
  3. Click the Choose button.

If you select the Ask Before Downloading menu item, SiteSucker will let you choose the Download Folder when you start a download.
